2014 harvest was unusually early, which was not surprising given California’s ongoing drought, which was so extreme that the cover crops in many vineyards never took hold. Substantial rain in late February and early March relieved most of our stress and set up the vines for a vigorous start. "Early" was the key word all season, from bud break to veraison to harvest. Thankfully, the hotter months proved milder than we expected. The early results showed juice that was really dark and a bit more concentrated.

Black currant and dark chocolate, as well as subtler layers of sweet oak, savory herbs and fresh-roasted coffee all appear on the nose. On the palate, ripe fruit and plush, radiant tannins create a velvety mouthfeel and an almost liqueur-like richness that carries through to a long, lingering finish.

I suggest decanting this Six Degrees for a few hours prior to drinking. Crystal and I opened a bottle and sipped on it for 4 days and day 4 it was soft and still delicious. This is a big wine with a healthy tannin structure so we can look for it to evolve graciously for another 20+ years.

Cheers!

Ryan Waugh

2012 was an incredible growing season, therefore we were blessed with incredible wines. The vines were so beautifully balanced that we were shocked by the size of the crop load. No growing season is easy, but 2012 presented few challenges. A mild spring led to a good fruit set. Summer and fall brought warm temperatures, but no heat waves. All the fruit enjoyed a long, slow ripening. After the previous two vintages it is nice to know there will be wine for everyone.

Weather in 2011 was very cool overall and we had some intense rain late in the season. The mild summer allowed for incredible acid and tannin maturity in the juice and skins of the grapes. Fruit set was not as large so coupled with the chillier temperatures we dropped a significant amount of fruit to allow the vines the opportunity to fully mature and ripen their crop. It worked out very well and we made a delicious wine for you to enjoy!

The 2010 vintage was a tale of hot and cold.  The cool summer allowed for incredible acid and tannin maturity in the juice.  September followed with a heat spike that provided some needed ripeness creating some incredibly balanced grapes.   The fruit load was extremely low though and we had to thin even more than usual to make sure we could ripen and mature the fruit on each vine.

This vintage of Six Degrees is probably the most elegant vintage we have seen from this vineyard and the wine can best be summed up in one word: Smooth! Our winemaking style has a certain elegance to it already, so coupled with what Mother Nature blessed us with in 2010 our palates will be loving life.

Hopefully we’ll forget we only have 100 cases of this amazing wine. Enjoy!!

2013 Six Degrees is a dark, bold, seductively rich and age worthy Cabernet Sauvignon. In my 20 year career growing grapes and making wine, I have not seen a vintage compare to the powerful elegance and natural balance of the 2013 vintage. Six Degrees took extreme advantage of the growing conditions and we produced a masterpiece! Enjoy!

Cheers!

2014 Six Degrees
Black currant and dark chocolate, as well as subtler layers of sweet oak, savory herbs and fresh-roasted coffee all appear on the nose. On the palate, ripe fruit and plush, radiant tannins create a velvety mouthfeel and an almost liqueur-like richness that carries through to a long, lingering finish.

Bright and juicy aromas greet you in the glass. In the mouth the wine is just as bright with cherry, cassis, and even a hint of strawberry thanks to the boldness of the fruit along with amazing acidity. Velvety, fine grained tannins are draped about the mouth like a fine silk cloth; long, and satisfying.

As is often the case with Six Degrees bottling's, it is so beautifully balanced that it invites early drinking, but while we would not fault you for ignoring this advice, we also strongly suggest patience as its best years lie down the road
