The 2009 vintage was a classic one for Cabernet, producing a wine of pure varietal character, suppleness on the mid-palate and age-worthy structure and intensity. Warm, sunny summer weather met with a cooling period during September that pushed our harvest back to the last two weeks of October. Each of the separate blocks that contribute to this wine were picked and fermented separately and after aging in French oak barrels for 19 months, the final cuvée was assembled in June 2012 and bottled in July 2012.
The wine's mountain fruit grown in some of the most renowned appellations in Napa (Oakville, Mt. Veeder and Pritchard Hill) have infused the wine with notes of blackberry, ripe plum, black tea, cassis and dark chocolate to create an intriguing aroma. Voluptuous mouth-feel and natural acidity balance the tannins, creating a truly memorable wine with no sharp edges from first to last sip.
